Once a year, coffee lovers from around the world get a chance to celebrate the coffee bean. With International Coffee day celebrated on October 1 every year, Howard Johnson or HoJo as it is called, decided to celebrate coffee which is grown mostly in Karnataka.
Being an American brand in coffee land, the four-star hotel has given everything served on the table – from savouries to sweets, a distinct coffee flavour.
HoJo is proud to celebrate Coffee Desserts Festival from September 29 to October 2 as an ode to this amazing bean.
“Refreshing aromas will be served with coffee-flavoured sweets and savouries. Every bit of snack and pastry served at Verve, HoJo’s coffee lounge, will have the flavour of coffee,” says executive chef Mani Mohan Pathak.
Among the savouries are coffee-braised pulled chicken sandwich, coffee Mayo chicken tarts, coffee-braised chilli beetroot Bruschetta, coffee caramelized onion and chicken puff and poached chicken.
The coffee-flavoured desserts are mocha oatmeal cookies, cappuccino cup cakes, coffee macrons, mocca cheese cakes, Tiramisu, coffee cream profit rolls, coffee-flavoured white chocolate brownies (kahlua brownies), little Mocha custards and coffee-caramel Crème Brulee. All of these served with the hot and steaming brew to set your mood.
Coffee is known the world over for being the best recharge, something billions of people would agree. To add to the stimulation, the hotel has laid out the best fiction and non-fiction books for patrons to enjoy reading while snacking.
Buzzword, the latest bookstore in north Bangalore, has brought cases of books for visitors to select, sip coffee and read.
“We have brought classics, fiction, non-fiction and even childrens’ books. As the hotel is a business hotel where top management heads from across the globe stay, we have displayed biographies and autobios of corporate honchos as well as management books,” says Senthil Kumar S, co-founder Buzzword.
Visitors to the coffee desserts festival can browse through, order coffee and snacks and read as well as buy books,” says Madhusudhan Nair, HoJo’s F&B head who has curated the festival.
